Main Purpose
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a technology used to treat various skin treatments for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes, including photo rejuvenation.
It can improve skin pigmentation, sun damage, varicose veins, and more.
IPL is a type of laser treatment. IPL releases many different wavelengths and is more scattered compared to conventional lasers which release just one focused
wavelength of light. IPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin without harming the first layer, causing less damage to your skin.
IPL can also be used for laser hair removal. It can destroy hair follicles to prevent hair from growing again.
During treatment for pigmentation, your skin absorbs light energy, which is converted into heat. Then the heat destroys the unwanted pigment to clear up freckles
and other spots.
However, IPL may not work as well on uneven areas. It is also not recommended for people who tend to get thick, raised keloid scars or who have darker skin tones.
