Overview
Double Jaw Surgery is called ‘double’, because the doctor will correct both your upper and your lower jaw bones.
Before surgery, the doctor and nurses will do a pre-op scan together with examinations to check exactly what kind of problem you have with your jaw
and how this should be fixed. Double jaw surgery is used to treat patients who have a lower jaw that is too long, short, wide or narrow compared
to their upper jaw.
Surgeons create incisions from inside the mouth so that no scars will be visible on the face after your surgery. At the incision sites, the doctor cuts through
the jawbones to reposition the dental arches. The jaws are then fixed in place using miniature titanium plates and screws.
Double Jaw Surgery Checklist :
Long Chin Correction
For a long chin, the doctor can perform T-Osteotomy surgery to correct the chin area.
This will make the chin look shorter and more balanced compared to the rest of your facial features.
Short Chin Correction
For a short chin, the doctor can either add fat through a fat graft or he can add a prosthesis.
This will make the chin look longer and more balanced compared to the rest of your facial features.
Wide / Asymmetric Chin Correction
For a wide chin, the doctor can perform T-Osteotomy surgery to correct the chin area.
This will make the chin look shorter and more balanced compared to the rest of your facial features.
