Overview

Rhinoplasty, also known as nose reshaping, improves the symmetry, size, and shape of your nose. Rhinoplasty procedures may be performed to alter the nose's look, enhance breathing, or both.

Rhinoplasty will balance your overall facial characteristics. It's critical to remember that the nose is a three-dimensional structure. The anatomy of the nose is composed primarily of cartilage at the bottom and bone at the top. Surgery might involve the bone, cartilage, epidermis, or all three. As a result, altering one area only may result in an unbalanced nose. To get the greatest results, most patients need augmentation in multiple areas of the nose.

Everyone has a different face with different proportions, meaning that everyone needs a customized, 1:1 designed rhinoplasty. There are certain ways to calculate the perfect size of your nose, which include your facial proportions. Clinic Find Korea will find the best doctor for your rhinoplasty and will make sure that the outcome will be a combination of the design you would like yourself in combination with the expertise of the doctor.

Rhinoplasty Checklist :

We recommend you check with your plastic surgeon and see whether rhinoplasty would be recommended to you or not. In the meantime, here is a checklist to see whether it would help you or not :
· Are you dissatisfied with the size, shape or general appearance of your nose?
· Do you have a deviated septum or do you experience breathing issues? · Are you unhappy with the results of your first surgery?

Different types of Rhinoplasty :

Tip Plasty
Tip Plasty is performed to sharpen and refine the nose tip while reducing it’s width. Even though there are different methods to tip plasty, the most common way is by tying it from the inside. In some other cases, the doctors grafts cartilage to the tip area after which the nose is tied. This cartilage can be removed from the ear or from the septal area. The doctor mostly uses cartilage from your own nose or ears, but in some cases, the doctor might have to use (donated) rib cartilage. Sometimes, a cartilage strut has to be made to support the tip.

Alar Reduction
The alar reduction procedure is performed to patients who have wider or flat nostrils. For most patients, tip plasty is performed and will already make the nostrils more narrow. However, if an additional procedure is necessary to make the nostrils look more balanced to the rest of the nose and the face, an alar reduction is performed. There is, however, a limit to how much the nostrils can be reduced through alar reduction.

Hump Reduction
A hump on your nose can make your nose look hooked, uneven or too big. To correct this, the doctor will create an incision on the inside of the nose and shave or rasp the hump, correcting the hump. In some difficult cases, the doctor has to physically break the hump while using cartilage to stop the nose tip from drooping. In some cases, after hump reduction, the doctor has to insert a certain type of implant (most often silicone) to correct the nasal bridge and make it look natural.

Osteotomy
The osteotomy procedure can be used to narrow the sides of a wide nasal bridge, giving you a more streamlined look. If necessary, an implant can be added afterwards to add height. Most average female noses should be brought back to a width of 10 mm - most male patients suffice with 13 mm. However, the final width is decided by the doctor.

Deviated Nose Correction:
A deviated nose is a crooked nose. Your deviated nose might give you trouble breathing. Septoplasty is usually performed to correct the nose. Other methods, such as the doctor creating a small fracture, could be used together or by itself as well. This does not only make it possible for you to breathe better, but will also improve the way the nostril holes look and make them more similar to each other.

Nose Implant Types :

Nose Implant gives more definition to the nose bridge. This will make your existing features come out better and will improve your current appearance. A small incision is made so that the implant can be inserted around the nose bridge area, leading to minimal scarring.

Silicone Silicone is the most popular type of nose implant. Silicone nose implants can be shaped into any shape that suits the patient's face and have the benefit of not changing in shape or being absorbed by the patient.
Gore-tex Gore-tex is the second most used type of nose implants. This is used mostly for people who have thin skin or who want a very natural result. There are barely any patients who experience allergies or adverse side effects to gore-tex.

Other methods, such as rib cartilage, dermal graft or medpor could be used as well. These are more rare cases.

Preparations before your rhinoplasty :

1) Reviewing your medical history and possible physical exam.
Please check whether you have high blood pressure, diabetes or any other medical conditions and whether you would need any further medical checkup before seeing the doctor.

2) Removing accessories and nail paint.
Accessories such as rings, piercings etc. can interfere with the surgery. Furthermore, nail paint (on both your fingers and your toes) have to be removed.

3) Stop smoking and drinking before and after the surgery.
Smoking and drinking lead to inflammatory responses in the body while heating it up. This may lead to bad side effects, infections or unsatisfactory results. Please stop smoking or drinking close to your surgery up until at least 1 month after surgery.

4) Stop taking any medication or supplements that are not necessary or mandatory.
Medications and supplements such as aspirin, multivitamin, chinese medication etc. could lead to dangerous situations during surgery. Please stop taking them 1-2 weeks before surgery.

5) Fast before surgery.
You should stop eating and drinking anything, including gum, from 5-8 hours before surgery.
